Brief History
Founded in 1998
Based in Saint-Alexis des Monts in the Mauricie region, the Les bières de la Nouvelle-France (BNF) microbrewery is passionate about making exceptional beer. Close collaboration and sharing of know-how between Quebeckers and Belgians have resulted in quality beer that is truly unique.

2005
- Award: Manufacturer of the year, 50 employees or less

2004
- Distribution in Quebec: available in 500 retail outlets.
- Distribution in Canada: Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) network and liquor stores throughout Canada, 250 retail outlets.
- Inauguration of the Economuseum.
- Manufacturing of a bioreactor to experiment with the malting of organic rice and grains, an innovative process vital to the development of raw material used in out gluten-free products.
2003
- Launch of La Messagère; a gluten-free beer. Partnership agreement signed with the Fondation québécoise de la maladie coeliaque (FQMC) regarding research activities.
- Named business of the year by the Fondation québécoise de la maladie coeliaque.
2000
- Named young business of the year by the chamber of commerce.
- Named a retail, distribution and commercial business by the chamber of commerce.
1998
Les Bières de la Nouvelle-France’s inauguration: an innovative concept with a microbrewery, bistro and boutique all under the same roof. Launch of the company’s first 3 beers:
- Claire Fontaine
- Blonde d’Épeautre
- Ambrée de Sarrasin
